SUNDALE SCHOOL

I got the call I've been waiting for. Caleb got into the Sundale School for Pre-K!!! He starts in August after one session of Summer School!! YES!!!!

The Sundale School is one of the most sought after school's here in Visalia/Tulare. The waiting list is ridiculous. When Caleb was 6 months old I had friends in my mom groups telling me to sign him up now for Pre-school. I remember how funny I thought that was. He's only a baby!

But I soon realized that Sundale's reputation for education was top notch. So when Caleb was 2 years old I put him on the waiting list. But never got "The Call".

For a year my sweet boy has been going to Childern's House Montessori in Tulare. He loves it there and I really like the philosophy and teaching style of Montessori. His teachers are wonderful. I adore them and am confident that he's learned so much in just the short time that he's been there. But I'm finding that what Caleb needs is serious structure and I'm more than thrilled that he will be getting the best of the best at Sundale.

Hooray for Sundale. Hooray for my boy! And thank you Michael for supporting (paying for) our boy's new educational endeavor. I love you!

The Experts!

Yesterday at 2pm

Back from Children's Hospital. 1st- thanks be to God for my two healthy beautiful children. Seeing the kids in pain, crying and in wheelchairs was heartbreaking. It made me thankful for all my blessings. 2nd- The Doc's were wonderful!!!! We have several followups and feel more at ease.  Will post more later...

Boogie- a red, swollen, spolchy mess

Well after three doses of Benadryl (every four hours) yesterday and sleeping it off last night.....My little guy is no better. In fact his cheeks look worse. Splochy, red and very swollen. We're trying to get him to eat before we give him Benadryl but his picky or non-eating diet is a serious roadblock. No school. Keeping my baby home. And showering him with love....

Of course he is smiling.  Because that's our little man...he's the best.

This darn Asthma...my poor boy...

Despite his cheery disposition Caleb broke out in a terrible rash today.

He's been on the Nebulizer for a week now and it's done WONDERS!  Coughing has literally ceased!

But this morning he woke up coughing pretty bad so after he has his usual treatment of Albuterol we gave him Xopenex which is only for an acute attack.  It is supposed to give immediate relief.  That was at 8:15am. 

***By the time I got to his school at 10am to help with the Cooking Project he was covered in a light rash!!  Ahhhhhhh!!  My poor guy.

But as usual he was in a great mood.  Didn't have a fever and seemed to be perfectly fine even though his little face (cheeks, nose and forehead), his arms and chest were covered in pink dots.

Now what to do?  My Mama instincts kick in.  Take him straight to the Doctor?  Go to the hospital? Call Doc calmly?  Race home and read the side affects then call Doc?  What to do?

I kept him at school.  The rash wasn't that bad (YET) and he had no fever and was happy.

***I went straight home and read the side effects.  "A severe allergic reaction will be the following:hives, rash, swelling....uh yeah he's allergic all right!  I call Doc.  Doc says to give him Benadryl.

****12:15pm I pick him up and it's WORSE!  His little cheeks are puffed! and swelling! And the rash is worse!  Ahhhhh!!  We race to Rite Aid and I hook him up with a dose of Benadryl while we're still in the parking lot.  My poor poor boy.

Can't wait to go to Children's Hospital next Wednesday,

St. Patty's Day at Caleb's School

This morning I got to help out in Caleb's class!

In honor of St. Patrick's Day his class has been doing fun projects all week.

And today we dressed in green and I came to help with their Cooking Project ;-)

We made Shamrocks Shakes!  I got to assist each of his classmates: scoop Chocolate Mint Chip Ice Cream, put it into the blender and pour it into their cups.  They loved it.  And all were so well mannered.  Even my Boo!

I just love the tiny's!  They were ALL so cute!  Hi Caleb's Mommy!!! They all said in chime when I walked in.  And Caleb was so proud to have his Mommy at school helping out.  Adorable!

1pm today:

Went shopping at the outlets! Caleb has his very first photo session with Traci Farias this afternoon. Thank goodness he's feeling mucho better. Now he can enjoy being the center of attention (just how he likes it)!

3pm today:

Mama: C'mon Caleb let's put on your new clothes and shoes.  Mommy has a special treat for you!  Caleb:  Uh no thank you I'm fine.  Mama:  Oh please please!  You'll have so much FUN and I'll give you M&M's.  Caleb:  Okay Mommy let's do it!

Why I didn't take a picture of him in his white buttoned up shirt, jeans and Vans shoes I have NO idea!

4pm today:

Sun is shinning but was that a rain drop on my windshield???

Between 4pm and 5:30pm:

Traci is doing her best to photograph our very energetic, overly excited, spirited and bossy child...

She is a wiz with the camera so I'm sure she got some good shots (we're hoping for three..ha ha).

6pm this evening (my update from Facebok):

So...Mr. Mayor Caleb is back! Photo session was fast and furious. Caleb would sit still for a picture for maybe uh 10 seconds while he bossed us all around. I was like Traci you better be like Flash Gordon and snap it quick! Then the rain came. Since when was it supposed to rain? Besides begging Boo to smile and freeze (with a bribe of M&M's of course), he looked ever so handsome! ♥ Phew!

The session WAS fun and I really do hope that he felt special.  He has been cooped up in the house all week due to this asthma so it's no wonder the boy was Mr. Happy when we got to the photo location.

Ahhh...my Boogie Woogie :-)

X-rays, stickers, Nebulizers and love

Here is a a short chronicle of what my poor Caleb has been going through the past three days:

Monday Night:

Caleb coughing, hacking, wheezing, struggling to breathe.  His first full blown Asthma Attack.

Tuesday Morning:

Caleb was up all night with that horrible asthma attack.  Last week Doc put him on Steroids for five days and an Antibiotic for ten days along with two weeks worth of Singulair but no change good or bad. Until last night. Poor fella. So we are here at the Doc's hoping that we can find a solution. Does he need a specialist? A Nebulizer? What to do.....my poor Boogie.

*** So Doc wants X-rays. The dreaded Xray machine. If anyone out there has had their kid sit on that terrible bicycle contraption then you know how scary it is. Caleb is going to be a mess.... Lord give me strength.

Two hours later:

Temporary solution: stop all inhalers. We've got a Nebulizer and two medicine for that as well as an antibiotic cuz his right sinus is filled. Great news!  She is sending us to Children's Hospital to see a Pulmonary Specialist. Oh my...ever since he was an infant he's had issues with coughing, breathing and "colds". Praise god we switched Pediatricians. Dr. McNinch is an angel.

Caleb has a strong spirit. We will get him diagnosed and healthy. It's all about being a proactive parent. My children are my life and Boogie will get thru this with a smile :-)

Wednesday Morning:

Keeping Caleb home from school today so that his body can get accustom to the Nebulizer/Medicine. He had a bad attack this morning (so bad that he threw up) but after a hot shower while his Mama held him tight, a dose of antibiotics, and 10 min. of his nebulizer treatment the coughing has STOPPED! So Praise God for that. 

One day at a time.

I'm a BIG kid now!

Caleb has been in pull-ups for FIVE days!!  YES!!!!!  He goes potty at school, at the studio and even at The Little Gym today :-)
